Mechanics in this position assemble precision and structural aircraft components and sub-assemblies. These sub-assemblies are later incorporated in larger assemblies that are subsequently installed on the airplane. Employment in this position also requires lifting and pushing/pulling up to 35 pounds, rotation of head/neck, bending and twisting at the waist, walking, standing, kneeling, reaching, sitting, climbing/balancing, use of high and low impact vibratory tools, flexion/extension, contact with metals, lubricants, solvents and plastics, exposure to noise, and the use of personal safety gear for face, eyes, hand/arm and ears. Ensure that parts issued are effective for the airplane and are free of visible defects. Review bar chart or automated time line to determine which job to work on and obtain appropriate drawings for job. Operate mechanical lifts of various types (e.g. tiger and snorkel lifts), as required, to locate parts/assemblies into position or to perform assembly work. Locate tools and/or parts on airplane using tooling holes, pilot holes, K holes, or by hand (as required), per drawing or tooling instructions. Align parts and secure in place using Clecos or tooling/hand clamps. Check for good edge margins and alignment.
Typical Education/Experience:
High school graduate or GED preferred.

This is an hourly position governed by the IAM Collective Bargaining agreement. Resumes of current Puget Sound Boeing employees submitted via BESS will not be considered.
