Research In Motion Limited®(RIM)® is a world leader in the mobile communications market. RIM's portfolio includes the BlackBerry® wireless platform, the RIM Wireless Handheld™ product line, software development tools and software/hardware licensing agreements.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing functional requirements for the BIS software development team. The BIS team develops software to deliver email to a wireless device over the Internet and wireless networks. Some of the key goals of this product are to provide an open, flexible and scalable foundation upon which various Blackberry e-mail functionalities are built. In addition, it must also deliver a highly scaleable and highly available solution in order to support millions of users and to handle many millions of emails per day. With this role, the successful candidate will work with Product Management to translate market requirements to detailed functional requirements for the BIS team as well as co-coordinating the requirements with other RIM teams as required. They will also work with the technical team leads and architects to develop technical specifications and provide knowledge transfer and assistance to the Quality Assurance team to build test strategies and plans.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS/ QUALIFICATIONS •A university degree in Computer Science or related discipline •5+ years experience working with business units to define requirements for software products •Strong analytical and problem solving skills •Strong interpersonal skills; team orientation •Self-motivated and can work with minimum supervision •Able to work in a high pressure environment
ADDITIONAL ASSETS •Familiar with email servers and protocols •Familiar with wireless communication protocols •Knowledge of mail protocols such as: SMTP, POP, IMAP and MIME.
